BART San Francisco International Airport
Extension Design Build Project
|
SFO, CA |
The BART extension to the San Francisco International Airport
(SFO) is one of the most important system extension projects.
It was a design-build project led by a joint venture of Tudor
Saliba and HNTB. The extension project covers four cities along
the corridor (Colma, South San Francisco, San Bruno, and Millbrae)
and includes extension directly into the SFO and to Millbrae with
a major intermodal transfer facility. The intermodal facility
includes a 3,000- space parking garage, and interface with Caltrain
commuter rail line and SamTrans buses.
CHS staff served as the traffic engineers for the project. We
were responsible for signal design, signing and pavement delineation
design, and traffic control plans during the construction period.
This project required close coordination with the design build
engineers and contractors, traffic engineers from the four local
cities along the corridor and Caltrans. CHS staff provided design
services and served as on-site traffic engineers for joint venture
design-build team to address all traffic engineering related issues
during the construction period.
